Top 2026 College Football Schedule Spot Bets for Big Wins

The 2026 college football season already feels like it’s going to be wild. There are some huge matchups and a handful of schedule spot bets that might just offer sneaky value for folks who like a wager or two.

DraftKings has put out odds for 70 “Game of the Year” showdowns—lots of rivalries, lots of hype. I’ve been digging through power ratings and found three schedule spot bets I like best for 2026, plus ten more that could be worth circling on the calendar. Let’s get into it and see what’s actually interesting here.

Key Schedule Spot Bets for 2026

Finding the right schedule spots can make or break a bet. Here are my top three picks for this season:

Penn State +1.5 vs. USC

This one’s tough for USC. It’s their seventh game in a row, right after facing Oregon and Washington.

USC just doesn’t travel well across the country. They’re 0-6 against the spread in their last six cross-country games—lost four outright. Since 2012, they’re an ugly 2-16 (and 1-16-1 ATS) in games played in the central and eastern time zones, missing the number by an average of 11 points.

Penn State, meanwhile, gets to host their annual *White Out* at Beaver Stadium. That’s a wild scene. The Nittany Lions should be 5-0 coming in, heavily favored in their first five games (Marshall, at Temple, Buffalo, Wisconsin, and at Northwestern).

All things considered, Penn State at +1.5 looks pretty tasty.

Michigan +6.5 vs. Indiana

Indiana’s in a rough spot. It’s their eighth straight week playing, and they’re traveling for the third time in four weeks.

They’ll be coming off maybe their biggest home game ever—hosting Ohio State. Michigan, on the other hand, gets a bye, then a home game against Penn State, and only Rutgers after. That’s a nice little break.

Michigan’s season outlook isn’t exactly inspiring, but their power ratings say they should only be a 5-point underdog here, even before factoring in the fresher legs. This line should probably be Indiana -4, so Michigan +6.5? Yeah, that’s worth a look.

Michigan State +17.5 vs. Michigan

This spot is brutal for Michigan. They’re smack in the middle of a seven-game stretch without a bye, facing Penn State, Indiana, at Oregon, and at Ohio State. This game might not even crack their top four in importance.

Michigan State, though, gets a bye right before. That’s a big edge.

Both teams are breaking in new head coaches who like to slow things down, run the ball, and lean on defense. A slower game usually helps the big underdog.

Since 2008, Michigan State is 14-4 ATS in this rivalry. Out of the last 31 meetings, they’ve only lost by more than 17 five times. Michigan State +17.5 feels like a live dog.

Additional Schedule Spots to Watch

There are a handful of other spots that could get interesting for bettors. Here’s what’s on my radar:

  • Louisville vs. Villanova, Sept. 11: Louisville’s got a quick turnaround after a huge Sunday night game against Mississippi in Nashville. Only a few days to prep for this Friday nighter. Villanova’s no pushover at the FCS level—they might catch Louisville napping.
  • SMU vs. UC Davis, Sept. 12: SMU just went to Florida State on Labor Day night. Now they get two fewer days to recover before facing a solid UC Davis squad. Not ideal.
  • LSU vs. Louisiana Tech, Sept. 12: LSU comes off a big home game with Clemson, then has to get ready for an emotional road trip to Mississippi. Louisiana Tech gave them a scare last year—they won’t be intimidated.
  • Mississippi vs. Charlotte, Sept. 12: Mississippi just played Louisville in Nashville and has only a day to regroup before Charlotte comes to town. Plus, they’ve got LSU on deck. Trap?
  • Oklahoma vs. New Mexico, Sept. 19: Oklahoma’s coming off a monster game at Michigan and has to head to Georgia the next week. New Mexico, probably the best in the Mountain West, could make things messy.
  • Texas vs. UTSA, Sept. 19: Texas just played a Top 5 Ohio State team and now has a road trip to Tennessee looming. UTSA is one of the tougher teams in the American—don’t sleep on them.
  • Penn State at Northwestern, Oct. 2: Penn State’s got USC and Michigan coming up. But this is the first game in Northwestern’s brand new $862 million stadium. That’s going to be a wild scene.
  • BYU at UCF, Oct. 24: BYU comes off what might be the biggest home game in their history (Notre Dame), then has to fly across the country. UCF will be rested after a bye.
  • Notre Dame vs. Boston College, Nov. 14: Notre Dame just had a Top 10 clash with Miami and has SMU up next. Boston College has lost ten straight in this rivalry, but they usually give the Irish a fight.
  • Texas vs. Arkansas, Nov. 21: Texas is fresh off a trip to LSU and has to go to Texas A&M after. In their last four meetings, Arkansas has outscored Texas by 18 points total. Something to keep in mind.

The 2026 college football season is shaping up to be full of surprises. There are some matchups on the schedule that just stand out, you know?

If you’re thinking about betting, timing and context can make a big difference. Sometimes, it’s all about spotting that one game where the odds are just a little off.
