Expanded Playoff Format and Schedule
With 12 teams in the mix, the bracket’s got more moving parts than ever. Upsets? You can almost count on them.
The first round starts with:
- No. 9 Alabama at No. 8 Oklahoma — Friday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET, on ABC and ESPN.
- No. 10 Miami at No. 7 Texas A&M — Saturday, Dec. 20 at noon, also on ABC and ESPN.
- No. 11 Tulane at No. 6 Ole Miss — 3:30 p.m., on TNT, truTV, and HBO Max.
- No. 12 James Madison at No. 5 Oregon — 7:30 p.m., again on TNT, truTV, and HBO Max.

Quarterfinals land on December 31 and January 1. Then, it’s off to the semifinals and, finally, the 2026 CFP National Championship.

- Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic: No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 7 Texas A&M/No. 10 Miami — Dec. 31, 7:30 p.m. ET.
- Capital One Orange Bowl: No. 4 Texas Tech vs. No. 5 Oregon/No. 12 James Madison — Jan. 1, noon ET.
- Rose Bowl Game Presented by Prudential: No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 8 Oklahoma/No. 9 Alabama — Jan. 1, 4 p.m. ET.
- Allstate Sugar Bowl: No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 6 Ole Miss/No. 11 Tulane — Jan. 1, 8 p.m. ET.
Semifinals are set for January 8 and 9. The Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will host the last four teams standing.
